Protect Your Teeth Against Sports Injury

Protecting your teeth is important no matter what you are doing. However, if you are engaging in a contact sport such as football, protection is absolutely crucial. Here at Charlotte Emergency Dental, we are equipped to help you in the event of any dental emergency, especially those that are sports related. You can help decrease your chances of experiencing a dental injury by taking some basic precautionary measures.

Using A Mouth Guard

One of the easiest—and yet most effective—things you can do to protect your teeth is wearing a mouth guard made of soft, resilient material. These “boil and bite” mouth guards are sold in stores for only a few dollars, and they are invaluable when it comes to protecting your teeth.

Just follow the instructions on the package to ensure a proper fit, and wear the mouth guard while you are playing your sport. It is important that you get the correct size of mouth guard for a few reasons: if it’s too big, you’ll likely tire of wearing it and will be tempted to leave it out. If it’s too small, you may very well find that the protection it provides is inadequate. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the right fit for your teeth.

Protecting Your Teeth Is Common Sense!

Of all the injuries that you can experience when playing contact sports, injuries to your teeth are among the most preventable. Given how expensive emergency dental work can be, and given how easy (and affordable) it is to protect your teeth, it just makes sense to take the necessary steps to ensure your teeth are protected.

If you do experience a dental emergency, we are here to help. We have extensive experience in all types of dental emergencies, and we can help get you on the road to recovery and get your smile back the way it should be. At Charlotte Emergency Dentistry, we are here to help, so give us a call any time you need our services!
